Obituary for Camille Lanford

Florence Camille Banks Lanford “Yaya”, born October 16, 1933,passed away December 25, 2016. She was preceded in the recent death of her husband of 64 years, C.A. “Sonny” Lanford; her parents, Jefferson Cohen and Eloise Banks; and her four brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Gwendolyn Lanford and Marcelyn Kirby (Phil); and grandchildren, Cody Kirby and Vance Kirby (Ria Lively, children, Logan & Jada). Camille was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. She was a beautiful woman and a natural mother. She was very active in sports and exposed her children to all aspects of life. She was a Girl Scout troupe leader, softball coach, ice skating coordinator (xmas shows) and model and many other activities. Her kitchen and heart were always open to the neighborhood kids. She spent later years volunteering and was awarded Loudon County Volunteer of the Year. She moved to Knoxville with her family in 1963, then to Loudon on Watts Bar Lake in 1985, in the house she designed.
